With the Nottingham meet approaching this sunday, I decided to prep the Volvo for the trip down... Now the car has been wearing Swissvax Mystery for the past month and that has been performing very well, and still sheeting and beading just like the day it was applied. But, in aid of charity, I have decided to experiment with a new product on the car... I wont reveal the wax used yet, as for charity its going to be a little competition at this weekend's Nottingham detailing meet. From a list of three waxes on the day, you can guess what wax I used on this detail to prep the S60, you'll be able to see the car in the flesh and enter the comp at Nottingham for £1 which will all got to charity on the day... out of the correct guesses, the luck winner will be drawn from a hat and will win a tub of the wax I used to prep this car. Hope to see as many folk as poss at Nottingham enterring this comp! Right, on with the show... First of all, the wheels were cleaned: not looking that grubby to be honest, few hundred miles of brake dust here: It gave me a chance to try out the Carlack Wheel Cleaner for the first time and I must say I'm impressed. Sprayed on, left a moment, wiped with a wet sponge, hosed off and here we have clean wheels... The car was then washed with Meguiars Shampoo Plus, dried using Meguiars UQD as a drying aid. To prepare the paint, I went with Zymol HD Cleanse, as I feel this is one of the best clansers and bases for waxes out there. Applied by hand using a foam applicator pad to small areas at a time, residue removed practically immediately after a few passes with medium pressure. Then on with the wax - just a single coat for now, and it added a nice wettness and depth to the finish from the HDC and left the black paint glowing in the evening sun... A few reflection shots: And some completed pics of the car, paint prepped with Zymol HDC and the mysterious wax... All will be revealed on sunday... All will be revealed as to which wax was used at the Nottingham meet on sunday, and all proceeds of the competition go to charity. :thumb:
